Sunday 24th Sept

Haven't been to Port Adelaide for ages and then twice in one weekend. Started Sun with a low key fun run there, then we headed to Glenelg to watch some of the Bay to Birdwood go by before a baptism at the Lutheran Church at Immanuel College.

The rest of the day was spent gardening and pottering around. Just what I needed. I've done a small corner of the front yard, after tending to the trees out the back (and the compost).

I went next door to speak to the neighbours about contributing to the side fence replacement. Found out they are just renting. Tim is beside himself now that they'll move out and take Kitty with them. 

I'm wondering what we do when we go away. Usually you ask your neighbours to help you with the mail and pets. Ha, do we have to ask them to look after their own cat whilst we're gone 😉😲. Tim had to do a special Coles run on Sun arvo for more 65c sardines for it.

Cape York Day 4 (1) Karumba to Musgrave Roadhouse

Took our time leaving Karumba this morning, that’s what holidays are. Coffee on the waterfront, talking to some local boys about the fish they caught.  Drove round the other side of Karumba where it faces the Cape of Carpentaria, picked a couple of green mangoes which are now in the car to ripen. Drove through station country to the Mitchell River, which we bravely decided to cross. Bra on the car so that was $160 Tim was glad he spent.  The countryside was full of these huge ant hills. And scattered everywhere.

Car Rally

We went to Mt Crawford Sat afternoon to watch the National Car Rally.  Well Tim watched, I googled Solar. It was a stunning Spring day and wonderful to be out in the fresh air. We packed a picnic lunch and the good old thermos of tea.  Lauren and Sadie came round for dinner. They'd been through a horrible week of the whole family sick with the flu. Sadie still wasn't herself, almost alseep at 6.30pm.

Cape York Day 7 Weipa to Fruit Bat Falls

The plan today was to go to Eliot Falls to camp for two nights. Eliot Falls is on the Old Telegraph Track, a very hairy 4WD track which Tim did years ago with Anthony. There are two entry points to the falls from the main road which Tim thought was closer/easier and I didn’t double check the plans with him.  Anyway the day didn’t quite work out as we thought. The drive from Weipa to Bramwell Junction was easy, a few more giant anthills at Bramwell Junction.  A check of the battery power, Tim’s latest concern 😉. But all is working well after a solid charge at Weipa last night. The roadhouse and sign to the old track. We chatted to the girl at the roadhouse who said that there was a water crossing to get to Eliot Falls from the South entry of the track so we did a loop round to come in from the North.  This involved 15km on the Peninsula Road, 7km on 4WD track to meet up with the Old Telegraph track and then another 7km on the Old Telegraph track.
