Cape York Day 10 Loyalty Beach to Bramwell Station

We both enjoyed our day out on the ferries yesterday, something different in the trip.

We drove North 25km to Punsand Bay, a place Tim had heard of that was worth visiting. The bay was nice, but I was in love with the resort there. That is all that is there, no town or anything. You go through the resort to get to the beach, and can camp or stay in cabins or lodges. More expensive, but a great spot if you were happy to hang about and do nothing for a bit. I guess that’s what most resorts are about. Apparently they host a Melb Cup day there when all the station owners from down the Cape come up with their horses and they have a race on the beach. A big to-do for the Cape.

Then we started our trip down the Cape. Tim was still keen to try going to Eliot Falls so I grinned through gritted teeth and agreed 😉.  We left the trailer on the side of the road all locked up, put the car bra on and easily made it through the water. What was I worried about!!! The depth was up to Tim’s waist though 😬.  7km later we were at the Falls with a heap of yobbos.

They were drinking, carrying on and listening to music at the Eliot Falls but round the corner was Twin Falls which we had to ourselves. I’m a bit more nervous about things under rocks and swimming around than Tim, but I enjoyed the splash and cool off.

Coupled a dusty trailer back on and made it to Bramwell Station for the night.  Hardest decision of the day is always where to park the car/camper for the night! 😬

The Friday before we left I went to our usual butcher at the markets and left them with a list of meat to vacuum pack for us. Got a new girl serving me so I was a bit nervous about whether my instructions had been understood. But that was the night I ended up back at work until 1am so I was a bit distracted myself.

Anyway, this morning I open a pack of meat which I had defrosted which was supposed to be 750gm of diced stewing steak only to find 3 delicious looking eye fillets. Was half way through my dream pot meal prep so they had to be diced and out in there.

But when we had dinner last night, it was the most tender meat think I have even eaten. It was so soft.

I’ve pulled the other pack out the freezer today and it appears that we have the same.  I cook these as steaks though.
