Cape York Day 8 Fruit Bat Falls to Loyalty Beach
But going back to the start of the day. We returned early to Fruit Bat Falls for a morning freshen up after packing up a dusty car/tent/trailer. It was divine and so refreshing.
I wasn’t keen to attempt getting to Eliot Falls from either end and was happier getting to the top and spending a couple of nights here. So it was an easy drive to Bamaga/Seisia and then Loyalty Beach camp ground is where we decided to camp. Had lunch and a relax under the trees before deciding to head to the top.
We’ve found its particularly hot between lunch and 4pm so happy to be driving at this time. But we get surprised at times by the wind that comes up which is refreshing, not cold, but just provides even air movement to ease the heat.
To the top was only about 50km drive but took nearly an hour with the 4WD road conditions and winding through. The contrast of the rich red earth then covered over with plant growth is really amazing.
A couple of other pics from the day. Seisia beach and Fruit Bat Falls.
The other highlight was the outdoor bar and restaurant at the end of the campsite. We went down to pay for our night and found a truely sensational outdoor dining area. What a gem! We’ll go there tomorrow so I’ll get some pictures. I don’t have my phone with me tonight. The campsite here is nearly empty but yet this place had loads of people.
