August is here

Well we’re onto the last month of winter! I’ve had a terrible couple of weeks with work stress and work workload. Had to work on the weekend and feel behind in preparation for our trip but a couple of deadlines have been met now so the stress is starting to subside.  Our friends Orla and Dave got engaged and we caught up for dinner Sun night. So lovely to chat through the wonderful feelings and see Orla glowing.  This picture came up on Facebook recently as a memory. Young love pre weddings and babies, but full of anticipation of bright happy futures together. We head off on another road trip next Friday, through to Innamincka, Arkaroola, Flinders Ranges. Outback and remote. Can’t wait! We’ll be travelling with Rob and Cath again which will be good. And first time with the car and camper. Woohoo! Counting down! Tim is still busy with bits and pieces on the car and camper. I’m experimenting with more domestic home economics. I can make yoghurt now (reducing waste and costing le...

It’s shaping up as another great weekend. I had a pretty draining week at work, plus a coffee meeting with the Finance Committee of Guide Dogs, and an interview to go on the Board of LLL (Lutheran’s Laypeoples League, bank) so all in all I was pretty happy when 3pm rolled in on Friday. Had a heap of market shopping to do but it was just what I enjoy on Friday before dinner.  We skipped gym yesterday morning so got a lot of home chores done, plus started on the food staples for our camping trip coming up.  My baking efforts didn’t exactly go to plan. The first loaf I put in the bread maker was a slimy dough after I missed the instructions (too busy chatting to Tim) and had triple the water required. Not sure what happened to the 2nd loaf but it looked like a poo emoji 💩💩💩 Family round for dinner and another Persian recipe ticked off! Everyone enjoying the music noise! Giselle wasn’t that well, so she was happy to spend some quiet time entertaining Finn. Such a happy little b...

Another good day!

Another day pottering around home and church. No urgency in anything which was great.  Tim has mounted a fuel tank holder to the back of the camper, and i got my two dwarf apple trees in.  A couple of other gardening photos to keep for reference.  And i finally pulled a horrible bushy thing out of my last corner of the side garden ready for another banana tree and maybe some sweet potato in the ground. (I’ll clean up the last of that rubbish next week). And how’s this morning photo...a couple of weeks ago on my run in to work.

A good day

Today was just great! I felt great. The weather was great! There was no rushing around. I saw my favourite people, especially enjoyed pottering around home whilst Tim worked on the car. He’s done a fabulous, neat job of the back. The  fridge is in, and some bolts next to it are there so we can secure a board for me serve up lunches on the road.  The front seat is the radio project.  He came in cold and tired tonight.  But hoping the hot Tagine, hot shower and fresh flannelette sheets will warm him up. So my month of Persia seems have rolled on, maybe it will be a year of Persia. I’m really enjoying this cookbook, and discovering flavours and methods of cooking that I wouldn’t normally do. Well tonight’s meal got a triple tick for deliciousness (and ease as well). A slow cooked Moroccan Tagine, which basically simmered for 5 hours today, fell apart in your mouth. Perfect winters night meal. I dropped the Hawthorne’s at the airport today for a trip to Melb, isn’t this ...

I ended up at the Dr yesterday after struggling since the weekend. Diagnosed with a “para-flu”, something viral trying to be the flu I think. Anyway at least that explained the lethargy and cough, but lack of head cold symptoms. Have had to work through most of it, but am finally feeling some life back in me tonight. It’s dreadfully cold and the lack of exercise seems to make it so much worse.  I’ve had a few drives in the car by myself now and love it. A near mishap trying to reverse into the driveway at 10pm at night after a church meeting had Tim laughing (fortunately 😊😉😘)! Nearly took out the side bushes! I’m still trying to get used to reverse camera’s.  Probably should try that out in daylight and when I’m not so tired! Just went to see Giselle perform in her school holiday Theatre Bugs performance. She had fun despite being a bit under the weather herself.  Work has been abnormally chaotic, with some confidential information gathering last weekend and during the...

Out of sorts

I’ve had a very out-of-sorts day. Doesn’t happy very often for which I’m thankful, so I just had to let it run its course today. I’m blaming the garlic in the dip I had last night. I went to a girls night in at a friends place, Patricia.  She was hosting a small gathering fundraising for a coastal walk later in the year supporting Beyond Blue. It was a great night, lots of yummy food, dips and bubbles.  Having done the Masters run in the afternoon I was hungry and know I devoured way too much of the roasted capsicum dip Patricia made, which had tonnes of garlic in it.  Anyway, long story to get to my morning.  We had dropped off Gerard’s car last night, the litttle blue laser we had borrowed until ours was ready. Now the rego was up, and we didn’t want to pay another 3 months so it went home with a case of beer in the boot. So Tim needed to work on the new car so I decided to go to a local Lutheran Church on Henley Beach road that I could ride to (10min). So off I pe...
