Australia Day Long Weekend

Image
Well I didn’t quite meet my aim of a nap each day over the long weekend, but had enough other fun things going on that I didn’t miss them. It was supposed to be three days over 40 degrees but it was really only today (Sun) that was really hot. We planned a long run for Fri morning, the last big one before a Tokyo Marathon, a month away. A few hip/back niggles so wasn’t sure I could do it, but in the end it fell into place with various Henley Runners joining in at different times from Henley Cibo, and coach John watching on. Got home to the new camper trailer out and airing, and Tim and I cleaned the cushions, floors, cupboard etc. Trying to get “their smell” out.  Then we loaded up the skip with our garden waste, and went to Bunnings to hire a Ute. (Not sure if my previous post mentioned that Tim had sold his car). Home with some wood and sleepers (and a cat flap-the highlight of Tims weekend). Saturday I caught up with Sharon for a long overdue girls chat whilst Tim was at Johns g...

January 2018

Well the last few weeks have had their ups and downs. Dad has been through his triple bypass surgery, not bouncing back as quick as we’d hoped (or he thought). It seems the drugs have really muddled him up. We’re glad he’s home now. Two weeks in hospital would take its toll. Lauren, Giselle and I went to visit last weekend. Baby Finn arrived last Sunday. What a tiny little baby, just so perfect! I had a lovely long cuddle on Monday night, just 24 hours old, and Tim had a cuddle yesterday. Until you hold him you don’t realise how little he is. And not very often you get to cuddle a 6 day old baby. I marked (audited) exams most of the weekend. I was pretty shattered by the time we finished mid Sun afternoon, but it will pay for the rest of the front fence or my flight home from Tokyo in Feb which I havent booked yet! Work is full on at the moment, finishing budgets and forecasts, changes every day. Tim has sold his Landcruiser and the old camper, all in the space of a couple of weeks. So...

Happy New Year

Image
Well it’s been while...not sure why I dropped off the blogging, but can’t remember having too many sofa nights since we got home from the trip.  It’s the end of  the Christmas/New Year 10 day break, and I think today was the almost the best. No racing around, beautiful weather and we got through some gardening chores together.  The front yard really needed a clean up after the tree was removed, plus I’m getting a new fence done and we need to pull down the old one before he will install the new one. I would have been there for weeks, but a man with a pick can hack through it so much quicker. So as Tim hacked away I made a pile of debris. Not sure how we’re going to get rid of that yet,  Then I bought a $50 bread maker and put a loaf on to cook. A trip to Bunnings and the pot plants were reported. Tim pottered in the shed with the new camper.  We sold the old one yay! The bag is packed ready for my ride to work tomorrow.  Dad is in hospital waiting for his h...
