A birthday weekend
The weekend just gone was great. Saturday was balmy and warm. A normal routine of Johns gym and a coffee was had, then home for some gardening and lunch before we headed to John and Kate’s for a baby shower. We are almost the odd ones out now in that circle of Tims friends. Most have one or two young children and are battling careers, guilt, motherhood, fatherhood, constant chatter, and all the ensuring gear and organisation that children bring with them. Then we went for a birthday dinner at Chicco Palms with Anna, Phil, Orla, Lauren, her friend Trish, and Marianne. Chicco Palms is an old Barnacle Bills fish and chip shop on the cnr of Henley Beach Road and Rowells Rd. It was renovated approx 18 months ago and turned into a Italian Pizza restaurant (Chicco Palms doesn’t sound very Italian to me). Tim and I have sat at the lights in the car watching this new restaurant, full of patrons since it opened, and constantly full, with beautiful young people entering and leaving and have been wondering what the hype has been about. So we booked in and it was pretty good, even if we’re not big pizza fans. Lots to share and take home, and a great night with friends/family.
And finally we did our Adelaide Oval Roof Climb on Sun night. It was pretty good, even if it was blowy and we got rained on. It’s a walk over the roof of the Adelaide Oval, all harnessed and clipped on, but interesting and great views. We had been given vouchers last year so this was the opportunity to use them.
Sunday the weather had changed, blustery and cold. Tim continued to pack the trailer and I went to church, then some more gardening and off to pick up my birthday fruit trees. I had organised 9/10 from a home grafting lady. Wow, her garden was an overgrown jungle of fruit trees, grafting, pots and junk. Amazing what has grown since the time she has been there, only 4 years. So I’ve got two grape trees, 2 white Sapote, 2 pomegrantes, banana tree, peacharine and plum to plant over Easter. Lucky Tim bought that rotary hole digger from Bunnings.

Looking forward to Easter and a four day break, with some cuddles from Finn and lots of home pottering.
