Sitting for a moment
I can’t remember the last time I sat down at 4pm on a Sunday, or sat down anytime over a weekend other than for meals or last thing at night. So taking a moment before the family arrives to have a minute of down time.
Today I ran the Adelaide half marathon, decided not to go to church after a day with the church yesterday. So had a good space of time to finish off some gardening projects. Tim had put up the wire for me along the side fence, so the grape vines could go in, and I started on the pond landscaping. The new car arrives tomorrow (I secretly think Tim is getting excited), he’s been at a bit of loose end this weekend in anticipation but glad he’s helped with a couple of garden projects before he gets stuck into car. After those few projects, and leftovers for tea tonight I decided that some feet up and blog time was just right.
I feel like I’ve had more available time this weekend even though most of yesterday was taken up in a Finance meeting with the Lutheran Church of Australia. I think the 3pm finish on a Friday is starting to pay off. All the groceries and some washing is done, plus I took a photo of a new recipe I wanted to cook so I bought the ingredients Friday night at the market so I all set to go when I got home from the meeting yday.
I listened to a podcast that interviewed three women, one of whom was cooking Persian food for her community and now as business after she immigrated to Australia. Anyway, something about her description of the food made me decide to cook “a month of Persia”. So I ordered a cookbook and we are on weekend 2 of a couple of new recipes. I cooked a slow chicken, fennel, barberry dish last night which was delicious and Tim really enjoyed it. Plus I made a cake last week, (I have nicknamed it a “Persian Love Cake” as I think these exist), which we both loved so I made another one.

Look at this little pussy cat, nose snuck under my pjs in front of the heater.
