Pichi Richi

Well I’m a few weeks behind. Now I’m just waiting to serve up dinner, Tim has been projecting away in the shed and now he is talking cars with Rob.  I have a steak the size of a house waiting to serve up between us. I think it will last two nights.

Tim has been busy the last few weekends working I the car. I’ve been enjoying winter running, church and catching up with the family.

It was a bit of a sad week...the family next door moved out and took the little kitty cat with them. We got wind of it so I left a note under their door as I knew they were coming back to clean up, offering to adopt her, as they showed her no love to her. But we heard nothing. We noticed they were back Sat morning so I popped over to chat about it. They said she had always been like that wherever they lived, making friends with the neighbours (she even slept at the neighbours on the other air whilst we were at work), but she was their cat so they didn’t want to give her up. We still miss her dreadfully but at least I feel a bit more at peace that she will make friends at her new neighbours. I think we’ll look at getting another four legged friend maybe later in the year after our next trip.

Here she is snuggled into my pj’s as I warm them before bed.

So this weekend we went to Port Augusta to do the Pichi Richi running event. It was good timing, nice to get out of town for the weekend. And to try out the new car on the open road.

We had a great weekend with a few others who also went up or lived there. Sat night dinner turned into a competition to work out in what order we would finish the race in. I was doing the marathon (not seriously, just a long run hit out),  Patricia, Orla and Dave doing the half, and Courtney and John doing the 10km. All events started somewhere between Port Augusta and finished in Quorn and just the timing of the starts meant that we could have almost all come over the finish line together.  However on the day, they delayed the start of the half and 10km so I was 30min ahead the whole time.

Anyway it was lots of fun, clean fresh air, beautiful scenery and lots of laughs and banter. Tim was the drop-off man transporting people and bags. I won (only 2 females in the marathon so a good chance), Orla first and Patricia third in the half, and Courtney won the 10km.
