The Good Shepherd

I’ve enjoyed going to the Warradale church with Marianne, Eloise and Finn.  They have a craft table near the front for the little ones during the service. Here are the sheep we made...

Oh what delightful weather

Image
April weather has just been sensational (except for the one weekend I was running in Canberra and it was blowing a gale!). It had been sunny and dry and warm and the colours of the day have been vivid. We’ve done a lot of pottering in the garden, and a lot of family time. Little baby Finn is growing, he’s full and happy, and gurgling and alert, watching his sister and world go by. Eloise is just a delight. Such a happy little girl. She reminds her mum not to forget the baby when they go out 😊. But she has a stubborn streak which cracks me up, but can imagine it exasperates her parents.  Marianne is almost ready to use the cot for Finn but Eloise won’t transition to the toddler bed despite an elaborate chart and reward system which she understands. Anyway, Marianne asked Giselle to ask Eloise “to sleep in the bed like a big girl, that it used to be her bed, that Sophie now sleeps in a big bed” etc. Giselle kept reminding her all the way out to the car when we left Grandma’s, and th...

Mean people...

Image
So I’ve had a torrid couple of days at work...the pays didn’t get released on Tues night (and it was my fault, but regardless it could have been anyone from the tram, still my responsibility...) and it was made even worse by the fact that yday was a public holiday so the ripple effort was terrible.  Anyway, I’m still blown away by how horrible people can be...emailing their complaint and cc’ing the world. It is nothing in the scheme of things, no one is hurt or died. Their money arrived. Anyway, the day was cheered up with a visit to Grandma. I love this photo...we each have a happy healthy child on our arms, and lots of love and care for each other.

Got to love autumn weekends...

Image
Wow the last two weekends have been divine! Could not have asked for better weather. I think I may have changed thinking Autumn is now my favourite season.  Easter weekend was mostly spent at home. I had gardening projects to tackle, and had fallen out running a couple of days before so was feeling a bit sore in places, in particular a swollen right hand and cut lip. Went to Good Friday church service with Marianne and her poppets, was lovely to catch up properly with her and hang about with the children. So enjoyable watching Eloise tuck into her lunch. We got the stones in around the shower, still need to get more, but the landscaping is taking shape. Four little fruit trees were planted along the inside of the new front fence, strawberry guava, 2 pomegrantes and a loquet. We’d bought a manual hole digger which was so much easier to use, but had to give up on Sunday after my hand got too sore.    Tim got the new camper out and we packed as much in there as we could. Rob...

A birthday weekend

Image
The weekend just gone was great. Saturday was balmy and warm. A normal routine of Johns gym and a coffee was had, then home for some gardening and lunch before we headed to John and Kate’s for a baby shower. We are almost the odd ones out now in that circle of Tims friends. Most have one or two young children and are battling careers, guilt, motherhood, fatherhood, constant chatter, and all the ensuring gear and organisation that children bring with them. Then we went for a birthday dinner at Chicco Palms with Anna, Phil, Orla, Lauren, her friend Trish, and Marianne. Chicco Palms is an old Barnacle Bills fish and chip shop on the cnr of Henley Beach Road and Rowells Rd. It was renovated approx 18 months ago and turned into a Italian Pizza restaurant (Chicco Palms doesn’t sound very Italian to me). Tim and I have sat at the lights in the car watching this new restaurant, full of patrons since it opened, and constantly full, with beautiful young people entering and leaving and have been ...

A busy weekend

Image
Reflecting on the last couple of weekends...the weekend of the 17/18 was busy. I think I was still catching up from having been away the weekend before, washing and chores, plus a haircut and cooking for the family.  The outdoor shower had been installed during that week, and it has proved to be better than I’d hoped and loved by Sadie as much as I’d desired.  A warm night and the nieces had fun with water play. On the Sunday I had a long run, a catch up with Brooke and Sue, then a church AGM meeting. Home for a few hours and then back into the city for a Fringe show. Tim had been busy painting the camper most of the weekend, and we both professed that we’re not up for things on Sunday nights. Too tired. But the Choir of Man show was great. However I think we might need a year off Fringe shows, or maybe my hopes are too high, not enough wow factor this year.
