Fences!

Image
The highlight of the week...new side and front fence! Oh I’m so excited!  The side fence if probably slightly higher than I first thought it was going to be, but it will definitely give me the privacy I need to my outdoor shower. And the front yard has so much potential now.  This was supposed to be the weekend I was in Japan but I was happy I didn’t go, and deliberately kept the weekend free from structured plans so we could potter as we pleased. After Sat gym wecaught up with Marianne and family at Pasadena Foodland, a new wonderland of a grocery store and then i spent a few hours in the kitchen, homemake hummus, salads and a banana bread for efforts. We bought some Tommy Ruff fillets at the supermarket and fried them in butter for dinner. Reminded me of holidays at Port Lincoln.  A trip to Bunnings in the afternoon for some plants, a manual hole digger and some other tools for breaking up concrete, and we are set for our next lot of projects. Tim is still busy on the c...

A happy weekend

I was so excited about the weekend. I was feeling better, no work stress and lots of fun activities planned. Friday night date night included a good catch up with Orla and Mum popping through on her way to help Marianne for the weekend.  Sat was a good session at Johns gym and a Kicco coffee after with just my husband and no extras in tow 😉.  Giselle had her 8th birthday party with her school buddy Mariella, a disco theme. We took an esky full of ice-cream (Lauren organised to store in our freezer) which the children enjoyed choosing what flavour and topping they wanted on it.  There were about 30 children screaming and dancing and having a ball. I was on Sadie duty whilst Sonya hosted the party, but she was great, running around enjoying herself. Giselle made a couple of speeches, thanking her parents, Sonya and guests. Wow, how confident and clear she spoke!  On Sunday I went to the early church and then met Tim at the camping and caravan show. I was hoping for mo...

Sunday Pottering

Today was just the sort of home day I had been craving. I went to the early church and then spent the rest of the morning cooking and being blissfully domestic. I made this cauliflower herb thing, which I quite like but it’s quite strong in flavour, plus a heathlh banana bread and some mulled wine.  Yes definitely not the time of year for mulled wine, but I had bought the spice in the German Spice shop in Melb and just felt like trying it out. And the shop lady said you could chill the spiced wine in summer which is exactly how I’m going to drink it...in very small doses, it’s also a bit strong in flavour.  In the afternoon we moved the two ornamental pear trees in the front yard. The new side fence and front fence are going in in a couple of weeks (I can’t wait!) and I had planted the trees right on the boundary line. Poor things were really struggling so we hope they improve in their new spots. I wasn’t quite as vigorous as usual, but my dear husband hacked through the hard ...

High Tea Happiness

Image
My dear friend Anna, hosted a high tea this afternoon for her birthday at the Mayfair Hotel. It was a nice small gathering of 5 of us. I was so happy not to have a headache today...been suffering badly since I got out of hospital. Can’t wait until I’m off the antibiotics, a couple more days.   Anna is a fashion writer for the Advertiser and hard to buy for as she gets given so much from merchandisers. So she was the lucky recipient of the kiwi fruit lunchbox...a bit of fun. And she loved it.  Lauren and I went to see Chat 10 Looks 3 last night. Annabelle Crabbe and Leigh Sales chatting live. Very light and a good way to distract myself from the work worries. Not that happy at work at the moment, can’t see to do anything right! This morning we had a coffee catch up with Rob and Cath, I was supposed to run in Japan in two weeks time but planning to withdraw and claim on travel insurance. Feeling a bit fragile at the moment, and. It really in the mood for marathon.

Elbow dramas

Well last weekend ended up a bit out of sorts...to say the least. Very random...I woke up Friday morning with a throbbing red swollen right elbow. And it was so hot. I went to work but ducked out to a Dr appoint who diagnosed a Staph infection, possibly travelled from an infected toe, but possibly not. Gave me oral antibiotics and off I went.  Saturday it hadn’t improved and I was hot, so at 3pm Tim dropped me at the new Royal Adelaide Hospital emergency and I was kept overnight on intravenous antibiotics.  I thought things improved overnight but the redness have moved outside the line so the Dr decided to admit me and operate to take out the pus. I then had to fast all day Sun (in case they managed to squeeze in the op). I was almost beside myself by Sat night, screaming headache. By 7pm they decided they wouldn’t do the op so i could have a meal (and some chocolates Lauren and Giselle bought up).  Same thing again Monday, and I finally went into theatre at 2.30pm. ...
